I am hoping, though not terribly optimistically, that heritage
institutions will gain something from the Olympics. Now that provincial
funding has been eroded to almost nothing, it is becoming increasingly
difficult to do anything. We are in the uncomfortable positions of not
being an archives, a museum or a gallery so we generally fall through
the cracks.

What we could use was in influx of heritage-minded tourists who would
not only visit the sites but would like walking tours - then we would
feel that we had gained something.

What would also be beneficial would some sort of a provincial program
that would tie special funding into the Olympics. How about historical
displays that showcased the history of sport (and the buildings or
landscapes that sports were played in or upon)?
