[BCMA Broadcast] Calling All Professional Artists

to participate in a public art 
project to be integrated into the new International Building at The 
University College of the Cariboo (UCC), located in Kamloops, BC.</span></font></div>

<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">Deadline for submission is <b>January 
15, 2004</b>.</span></font></div>
<div align="left"><br>

<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">UCC's Art Selection Committee is seeking 
a sculptural or other 
artwork as the main feature of the building's West Entrance, 
comprised of a hall and semi-circular glass facade.</span></font></div>
<div align="left"><br>
</div>
<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">Entries should correspond to one or 
more themes suggested by the 
form, function and history of the site: &nbsp;the geological/geographical 
site of the building and the Kamloops landscape; the recent and 
past cultural history of the site and of Kamloops; the observatory to 
be reconstructed as part of the building; the international and global 
community of the International Building and the UCC campus.</span></font></div>

<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">The artwork is intended to be the 
focal point of the entrance, with 
the total budget available (including a site visit) of $45,000.</span></font></div>

<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">Artists are required to maintain ongoing 
communication with the 
Selection Panel, comprised of two faculty members, a dean, and 
two representatives from UCC International, with resources and 
advice provided by a resource team of university project 
development staff and an independent architect.</span></font></div>

<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">The Selection Panel will review artist 
credentials and each initial 
proposal, which must include:</span></font></div>
<div align="left"><br>
</div>
<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">- a typed statement which introduces 
ideas the artist would like to 
develop on-site, and how those ideas relate to the artist's art 
practice; </span></font></div>
<div align="left"><br>
</div>
<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">- six copies of a conceptual artwork 
sketch or design proposal that 
presents a clear image of the proposed artwork; </span></font></div>
<div align="left"><br>
</div>
<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">- a curriculum vitae or resume of 
past work;</span></font></div>
<div align="left"><br>
</div>
<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">- a sleeve of up to 10 labelled slides 
showing previous artistic work 
experience; and,</span></font></div>
<div align="left"><br>
</div>
<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">- a 9x12&quot; self addressed stamped 
envelope.</span></font></div>

<div align="left"><font face="Arial"><span style="font-size:10pt">Short-listed artists will then participate 
in an interview and 
discussion and will be paid a fee of $400 to construct a detailed 
conceptual design or maquette.</span></font></div>
