I am writing to state that the following letter was written by Paul Crawford
Director / Curator of the Grand Forks Art Gallery to gain support for the
Mountain View Doukhobor Museum project and should read the following way.
Sorry for any confusion and this in no way reflects the views of William
Adams Director of the Boundary Museum.

Sincerely,

Dear Cultural Partners;

I am writing you in hope you may provide Boundary Museum in Grand Forks a
letter of support stating the value of culture and heritage in our society.
As of November 30th, the Mountain View Doukhobor Museum is set to close its
doors and its artifacts sold if the Grand Forks City Council in British
Columbia does not take steps to protect this heritage site, the last of its
kind in North America.

The Doukhobor's came to Canada in 1899 to escape persecution from the
Russian Czar after they refused to take up arms for the Russian monarchy.
They settled in the Canadian Prairies with the assistance of the Quakers and
writer Leo Tolstoy. Today they still live their lives as staunch pacifists
and campaign for peace initiatives. It is our hope that this cultural
heritage site will be preserved for the benefit of all human beings. In this
time of global uncertainty, it is important that the ideas of peace and
equality be acknowledged as vital for our economic and social development.
Please take a few minutes to help preserve this heritage site and help us
build a stronger community voice for the promotion and preservation of peace
and culture; the building blocks for a better future.

Thank you for your consideration and time.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Crawford
