An online petition has been started to address the decision by the
Government of Canada in its most recent budget to give a tax credit to
the parents of children taking part in organized sports but not arts-
related activities.

The petition asks that the government reconsider the announced policy
and extend the tax credit to all children and to any activity in which
parents enroll their children for their mental, artistic or physical
well-being.

Hello Members;

At last Friday's Regional Reception at Burnaby Art Gallery, BCMA announced that we have negotiated and booked two successive weekends in September to host the Canadian Conservation Institute's 2-day, "Heritage Facility Planning Workshop", based on the BCMA-L response (over 60 interested parties!) earlier this spring.

We mapped out the geographical origins of respondents and determined that 1 Lower Mainland location and 1 Okanagan location would each prove the most accessible to the majority of the BCMA-L respondents wanting this workshop.

BCMA now needs to confirm the actual host member institutions in both these regions for an advance site visit and consultation with CCI instructors, Siegfried Rempel and Brian Laurie-Beaumont, between July 9 & 14, as part of tailoring the workshop content to institutions in the region.

At last Friday's Reception, we invited "expressions of interest" and
announced this general "Call for Hosts" via BCMA-L this week.

I have requested "hosting requirements" for the session itself from CCI,
but they have said that they would be prepared to expand the allowable attendance from 20 to 30 persons, if necessary.
More details will follow.

CCI reserved the two-week block in September as:
Saturday, September 16 thru Monday, September 25th.

Members can review the basic content of this CCI workshop online at:
CCI's Heritage Facility Planning Workshop

Please respond directly to BCMA, at your earliest convenience.
Thank you!
