s&#233;e Verner was first elected as a Member of Parliament in January 
2006, in the riding of Louis-St-Laurent. On February 6, 2006, she was 
appointed Minister of International Co-operation and Minister for La 
Francophonie and Official Languages in Prime Minister Harper&#146;s 
Cabinet.</span></font></div>

 June 2004, Ms. Verner was named spokesperson for the Economic 
Development Agency of Canada for the Region of Quebec in Mr. 
Harper&#146;s shadow Cabinet. In September 2005, her portfolio was 
expanded to include responsibility for official languages. She also 
served as chair of the Quebec caucus of the Conservative Party of 
Canada. </span></font></div>

. Verner has spent almost 20 years in the communications and 
public service fields. She has worked for former Quebec Premier 
Robert Bourassa and for the deputy speaker of Quebec&#146;s National 
Assembly. She has also worked at the provincial Ministry of Health.</span>=
