The yoke is similar to that shown in this photo of a Quarter Plate Daguerrotype of California Gold Miners. The yoke with two buckets is shouldered by one of the miners in the photo. I am now in a legal position to dispose of the object and would like to donate it to a public museum that can make use of this yoke in its collection. Hello,

The object is a wooden yoke brought to Canada by the owner who had lived there sometime around the 1920's-- he had told the story often that it used by the "49'ers" of the California gold rush but there is no documentation to support this.

I am sure you will have no problem donating the piece to a museum for a tax receipt. What is the value of the piece? Are you expecting to sell it or donate the piece? Do you have a photo of the artefact? Season's Greetings!

Thanks to the many members, suppliers, listserv subscribers and supporters who have sent us holiday greetings, e-cards and post-Conference compliments!

On behalf of the BCMA staff and volunteers, this is very much appreciated.

Please note that the BCMA Office will be closed for our annual Christmas Break, from December 22 and will re-open Monday, January 5th.

Over this time, both the BCMA-L and members only MBEN listservs will not be active.

We ask that you please hold your listserv postings until January 5th.

Thank you for your continued participation and support.

Best Wishes for the Holiday Season,
--Jim
