Hello,

The object is a wooden yoke brought to Canada by the owner who had lived 
there sometime around the 1920's-- he had told the story often that it 
used by the "49'ers" of the California gold rush but there is no 
documentation to support this.  The yoke is similar to that shown in 
this photo of a Quarter Plate Daguerrotype of California Gold Miners.   
 The yoke with two buckets is shouldered by one of the miners in the 
photo.  

I am now in a legal position to dispose of the object and would like to 
donate it to a public museum that can make use of this yoke  in its 
collection.
