Greetings from the BC Museums Association!
The Heritage Branch has announced a series of 9 regional Stakeholder
Workshops as a key sector consultation initiative in the process of
developing a new heritage strategy for BC.
The series begins August 18 in Cranbrook, BC.

secure a place and to take advantage of this prime opportunity to

The BCMA's Program Committee is delighted to announce that
nationally renowned Canadian humourist, Arthur Black will serve as
the special guest Keynote Speaker at the BCMA's provincial
Conference 2008: Storytelling in BC - People, Places & Perspectives in
Victoria, BC on November 19-22, 2008.
Arthur Black...
- has published 11 books of humour
- is a 3-time winner of the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour
- hosted "Basic Black" for 19 years, a national weekly show on CBC
Radio every Saturday morning with a listenership of 650,000
- is currently a syndicated columnist in 50 newspapers from Vancouver
Island to Newfoundland
- is a featured commentator (humourist, really) on "All Points West" for
CBC Radio One
- claims [that] "in all other life pursuits, Black is an abject failure."

Greetings from the BC Museums Association!
In conjunction with the Arts & Culture Division of the Ministry of
Tourism, Culture and the Arts, the BCMA is working to identify those
museums and art galleries in BC that are:
A. Owned and operated by the municipality? (Please provide Name of
institution and City).
B. Owned by the municipality, but operated by an arms-length
organization or non-profit society? (Please provide Name of institution,
Name of the arms-length or non-profit society and City).
C. Who owns the collection? The municipality or the operating
organization/non-profit society?
Please respond ASAP by Reply email re-addressed to:
Please INSERT your brief response(s) under A, B & C above.
The information gathered will be added to the BCMA's confidential
central database and a shortlist of municipally-owned museums and art
galleries will be supplied to the Arts & Culture Division on the sector's
behalf for reporting purposes.
