Congratulations Lesia!!
I know your Island colleagues will miss you a lot, but the rest of us in the province will too! All along you have been helpful and open in your support of whatever project I've bounced off you and I've always appreciated your thoughtful observations and candor! It strikes me that one of the things pretty much everyone respects is 'production' - and you've produced a lot there. Well done.

Not sure what you'll be up to after the Spring transition in Campbell river, but my guess is that whatever you put your hand to will turn out well.
All the best Lesia!

The Museum at Campbell River is announcing the retirement of Executive Director, Lesia Davis. She will be retiring April 30, 2012 which will give time for her to help with the transition to her successor who will be chosen by the Museum Board.

"I am extremely appreciative of Lesia's accomplishments," Board President Norm Fair said. "Her strong leadership skills are illustrated by the support and dedication she receives from Museum staff, volunteers and Board members."

During her more than 14 years as Executive Director at the Museum, Davis oversaw a number of milestones including the creation and installation of the permanent exhibits, a five-fold increase in admissions revenues, a more than doubling of the asset value of the Museum collection to $2.1 million, the development of the Millennium Park including the installation of the cod fishing boat Soyakaze, and retirement of the long term loan to build the museum.

"When Lesia arrived, the building and exhibits were mainly empty," Fair said. "She rolled up her sleeves, raised the funds, acquired grants and in the ensuing years was the driving force behind the creation of a smooth-running, award winning, best in class museum."

Under Davis' leadership, the Museum at Campbell River developed a national reputation for excellence. It has been the recipient of the BC Museums Association Award of Merit, the Heritage Society of BC Award for Outstanding Achievement and the Campbell River Chamber of Commerce Business Award of Distinction.

When submitting her resignation, Davis said, "It was a very difficult decision as I so thoroughly enjoy working with the staff, volunteers and Board was well as the challenges we faced and our successes. But after 14 years in my current position and over 30 years in cultural management, it is time for me to move on to a new life/work balance."

The Board of the Museum expresses deep appreciation for Davis' years of dedicated work and her many accomplishments and wishes her the very best in her future endeavours. The Board has launched the recruitment process for a successor.
