Hello BCMA Members!

As promised by Council to be circulated on November 2nd, and in an effort
to better engage the membership in your Association's progress, please find
attached the draft financial statement for Conference 2012: "Rendezvous -
All Together Now" held in Kamloops, BC on October 17-20, 2012.

This event statement is marked "draft" because we are awaiting confirmation
of exact amounts for certain in-kind expenses & matching in-kind revenues
for social events that will not affect Conference 2012's bottomline.

Annually, the BCMA looks to our annual provincial Conference to generate a
net surplus of $20,000 to help balance the Association's fiscal year. These
funds subsidize the BCMA's member programs & services, advocacy,
operations & Council governance activities.

This year, Conference 2012 has been as much a financial success as it was
a successful event, exceeding our target by posting a $31,903 surplus due
in no small part to our wonderful Host Committee in Kamloops & their efforts
to gain substantial community support from the City of Kamloops & hosting
member institutions, Kamloops Museum & Archives, Kamloops Art Gallery
and Secwepemc Museum & Heritage Park, both with in-kind donations of
essential facilities & services and through advertising support.

On behalf of the BCMA & our members, we thank you, Kamloops!

BCMA will now be able to meet its operating budget obligations and with the
additional surplus, be able to bolster member programs, services &
advocacy efforts.

BCMA also wishes to thank all of those who took the time to prepare &
submit workshop & session proposals; to the Program Committee who built
a well-received program; to the presenters, instructors & special guest
speakers who helped deliver our program; the Host Committee again & our
host facilities for making us feel so welcome & cared for; and to those 148
participants who registered & took part.

Already we turn our attention to next year & invite you to seriously consider
submitting a session proposal or idea; recommending a guest speaker or
particular workshop & instructor; and even consider hosting the BCMA
Conference in the near future--whether you are a museum, art gallery,
archive, historic site or heritage property.

Please watch for further updates in the upcoming Winter 2012 issue of
Roundup!
