Dear members:
We'll launch our Spring Workshop series in less than two weeks, on Monday,
May 11, with Creating Exhibitions that Really Work!, led by one of Canada's
most experienced museum professionals, Tim Willis.
Tim will cover a lot of ground in this full day workshop:
* What works? An exploration of successful exhibitions around the
world.
* Sharpening our critical faculties. Learning to look at what works
and what doesn't.
* Visitor-centered practice. Principles and importance.
* The planning process. The stages of exhibition development and the
principles of successful planning.
* Finding the story. Principles of powerful interpretation. How to
find the story, organize the story in preparation for design, and how to
write well for exhibitions.
* Concept design. How to imagine the exhibition physically and
intellectually. Moving from the story to the physical design.
* Design techniques that work. Exploring important design tools:
Composition of the display case, lighting, texture and colour, digital media
etc.
If you haven't already registered, we hope you'll do so soon. Your
members-only registration fee is just $69 - for a full day of learning with
lunch included! Scroll down for details and a link to registration.
We hope to see you there!
