Sea to Sky Regional Heritage Fair
Saturday, April 28, 2007 11am-3pm
North Vancouver Museum and Archives Community History Centre
The North Vancouver Museum and Archives is pleased to present its sixth
annual Sea to Sky Regional Heritage Fair. An entertaining and
educational family-oriented Fair, this free event will be held at the
North Vancouver Museum and Archives’ NEW Community History Centre and
the adjacent Lynn Valley Elementary School on Saturday, April 28^th from
11am-3pm. The Community History Centre is located at 3203 Institute Road
in Lynn Valley.
The Sea to Sky Regional Fair will feature a fun-filled collection of
heritage-themed activities with plenty for everyone to enjoy.
· Tempt your taste buds with Candy Making by the Marzipan Man
· Feeling lucky? Pan for gold with Yukon Dan.
· Create a Heritage Hat or drop by the Artisan Bakery Table
· Delight in performances by the North Shore Celtic Ensemble and the
Squamish Nation Eaglesong Dancers.
It doesn’t stop there - research your neighbourhood with the North
Vancouver Museum’s archivist, chat with local authors, history experts
and heritage plant experts. Kids can join in old-time games, experience
the art of blacksmithing and view vintage vehicles including the 1936
Harbottle Dairy Truck.
As well, for the sixth year running, the North Vancouver Museum and
Archives has encouraged students from throughout the Sea to Sky region ,
to explore local history . Over the years, thousands of students have
participated in the program and this year the results are wonderful! At
the upcoming Fair, over 100 history projects will be displayed for your
enjoyment . Hear about the building of the Lions Gate Bridge, the
history of Nootka Sound and the Whitecap Soccer Team, Gastown and much
more. Students will also be on-hand to show-off their projects and
judges will recognize the students' handwork at the 3 p.m. closing
ceremony.
We welcome you to step back for an afternoon to learn something new
