The City of Kamloops and the Museum might want to learn from the experience
of the Vancouver Museum. A similar situation occurred in the mid-nineties
and the long-term consequences were devastating. I have not been around
long enough to know the full story, but I am certainly aware of the damage
it did and would be happy to provide information on the lessons learned.

In response to Cuyler's message, I am not putting any blame on the staff of
the museum. I put the whole blame on the City of Kamloops for the way they
treated long time volunteers (Not only me). They told us "They do not want
to have any more dealings with the Kamloops Museum Association." They don't
want an advisory board; they want a "Friends of the Museum" to raise funds
for them with no policy making.

Subject: [Bcma-l] Craig Smith Extreme Waves at Maritime Museum of BC
Extreme Waves by Craig Smith is a fascinating history of waves. Big waves.
Small waves. Waves that can be great fun for swimmers and surfers. Waves
that can be devastating and deadly.
Join us for an evening of Wine and Cheese and Waves April 19th at The
Maritime Museum of BC. Meet the author and purchase a signed copy of his
book
The book covers the headline stories as well as incidents that are less well
known but equally startling. Like the fact that some waves have been known
to surge up to 1700 feet high and strip trees from mountains.
An engineer by profession, Craig Smith has traveled the world for 40 years
managing complex engineering projects These include the renovation of the
Pentagon, before and after 9/11. He also wrote How the Great Pyramid Was
Built
