Dear Friends:

All is ready for a great celebration which we hope you will also attend. 
We now have confirmation that a number of distinguished guests will be 
also attending, including Chief Andy Thomas as well as  Mayor Chris 
Clement of Esquimalt and Mayor Graham Hill of  View Royal as well as a 
number of Council members of both cities. If you happen to be listening 
to CBC on Friday April 20 at 7.10 am you can also hear Darlene being 
interviewed by Paul Vasey.


 

  Grand Opening of One Moon Gallery  This Saturday April 21, 2007

 Everyone is invited to the public opening at 2 pm on Saturday April 21 
of this new art gallery located in the Esquimalt Nation Reserve , off 
Admirals Road at 1192 Kosapsum Crescent.  For direction see map below or

 One Moon Gallery will feature the art of Darlene Gait, the acclaimed 
First Nation painter whose work is available internationally and through 
several publishers  and who will keep a permanent exhibit of over 75 
paintings at her new gallery and showroom. Her art and initiative was 
honored through a Totem Pole raised in front of the gallery last 
month.   Darlene will share the stories behind some of her paintings as 
well as unveil 3 new pieces.   

The program includes performances of native music by ED Peekeekoot 
(Ahtahkakoop Cree, www.peekeekoot.ca <blocked::http://www.peekeekoot.ca> 
) with Flute and Guitar as well classic Cello music by Dan Anies ( 
www.dananies.com <blocked::http://www.dananies.com> ). The opening 
ceremony will be attended by Chief Andy Thomas as well as Mayor Chris 
Clement of Esquimalt and Mayor Graham Hill of View royal,  amongst other 
distinguished guests. Food and beverages will also be served, so bring 
your appetite!
