You Are Invited to the Mission Museum’s Building’s
100th Birthday!
1907-2007

Saturday, August 18th from 12pm to 4pm
33201 2nd Ave, Mission

In 1907 Mission saw a train roll into town from New Westminster with the
prefabricated building that is the Mission Museum on board. Put together on
Main Ave (1st Ave) next to the Fraser Record this building was the first
Canadian Bank of Commerce in Mission.
In 1947 the building continued to be a central part of the Mission Community
when it was moved to its present location on 2nd Ave and was used as Mission
’s Library.

In the 1970s the Historical Society moved in and used the building to
display Mission’s material culture and history. This includes the well
known Taulbut Collection that consists of curiosities from around the world.
Under the direction of President, Ethel Ogle and dedicated volunteer staff
members like, Dorothy Crosby the Museum has evolved over the years. In 1992
to celebrate Mission’s Centennial the building was restored to it’s original
appearance as it would have been in 1907.

This year the building turns 100 years old. Come and help us celebrate.
See the Centennial Quilt, play heritage games, get your face painted, tour
the museum, enjoy the music broadcast by the SPARC Antique Radio Museum,
listen to story telling by the Mission Community Library Staff, see heritage
craft demonstrations, eat Birthday cake provided by Save-On-Foods, have a
BBQ lunch ($5 for a hamburger, drink and chips) and partake in the raffle
for prizes from the Mission Springs Brewing Company and Cedar Ridge Golf
Course.

All proceeds and donations from this event go towards the preservation of
the Mission Museum Collection and Educational Programming.
