Job Title: Gallery Animator/Tour Facilitator
Position Description: Under the direction of the Visitor Services
Coordinator, you will provide friendly and responsive service to museum
visitors. You will be expected to work independently as well as with other
staff members. This is a full time (35 hrs/wk) position and may include some
evening and weekend hours.
Key Responsibilities:
* To develop a general knowledge of the Museum and apply it with
visitors.
* To learn and follow appropriate museum policies and procedures.
* To use interpretation skills that are appropriate, positive and
current to deliver presentations.
* To liaise with programming staff and community partners
* To assist visitors with retail purchases.
* To assist with displays for promotion and merchandising.
* To work as part of a cooperative team.
* To enhance visitor experience by being helpful, cheerful and
attentive to their needs
* To process sales.
* To perform daily opening and closing procedures.
* To develop a tour marketing package
Qualifications:
* Self motivated, organized, and experienced in customer
service/hospitality.
* Has an enthusiasm for learning, be self motivated and organized.
* Excellent communication skills in the English language
* Outgoing personality and enjoys dealing directly with the public
* Flexible and works well under pressure
* Must have some previous sales, merchandising and cash handling
experience.
* Career goals in history, museum studies, theatre or tourism are very
beneficial.
