*KElowna museums society calls for docents*

*For 2007/2008 School Year*

Do you have a love of human and natural history? Do you enjoy teaching 
students of all ages? Would you like to learn more about how a museum 
operates? Then this may be the volunteer opportunity for you. The 
Kelowna Museums Society is calling for docents for the 2007/2008 school 
year. Training will be provided in orientation sessions that take place 
September 10, September 17, September 24, and October 1, from 10:00am 
until 12:00pm. Those interested are asked to please call Patti Kilback, 
Curator of Education for the Kelowna Museums at (250) 868-4876.

Docents are specially trained volunteers who give their time and energy 
to further the public’s understanding of the cultural and historical 
collections of the museum. As a docent with the Kelowna Museums you will 
assist with Education & Public Programming, teaching school groups, and 
leading tours. In return, you will receive all the necessary training 
for the position and you will gain a behind-the-scenes understanding of 
how a museum operates.

The Kelowna Museums is made up of four distinct museums: the Okanagan 
Heritage Museum, the BC Orchard Industry Museum, the BC Wine Museum & 
VQA Wine Shop, and the Okanagan Military Museum. Each museum has a 
mandate to work towards a greater awareness and preservation of its 
subject matter and docent positions are available in programs at all 
four Kelowna Museums.

The Kelowna Museums Society is a non-profit, charitable organization 
dedicated to a greater awareness of the agricultural, wine-producing, 
military, and cultural heritages of the Okanagan. Admission to the
