Heritage Fairs Assistant 2008

While working with a community-based volunteer Heritage Fair committee =
and with the Museum's education staff, the Heritage Fair Assistant will =
fundraise for, and coordinate a celebratory public Heritage Fair =
program. A community sponsorship program will be administered and, =
while showcasing students' projects, educational and entertaining events =
for the entire community will be presented. =20

In 2008, the North Vancouver Museum & Archives will present the sixth =
annual Sea to Sky Regional Heritage Fair program. This program will =
highlight history projects produced by students in Grades 4 to 9, from =
North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Howe Sound districts. As part of =
their classroom studies, students will be asked to create a project that =
demonstrates original research and to present that project to their =
peers and the public. In addition, community groups and history =
specialists will conduct workshops and demonstrations for the students =
and the general public.=20

The Sea to Sky Regional Heritage Fair is part of a national program =
sponsored by the Historica Foundation which is dedicated to increasing =
understanding of Canada's history. Annually over 300,000 students, from =

Duties include assisting with:
=B6 Promoting the fair program to teachers and principals =
throughout the Sea to Sky Region.
=B6 Creating a day of entertaining and educational activities for =
students.=20
=B6 Promoting the Sea to Sky Regional Heritage Fair day to the =
general public.=20
=B6 Liaising with entertainers, sponsors and the media.
=B6 Coordinating a Regional Heritage Fair sponsorship programme.
=B6 Administering the student awards program.=20
=B6 Organizing Heritage Fair committee meetings and volunteer =
support. =20
=B6 Writing regular press releases, flyers, and advertisements.
=B6 Researching and submitting program reports to funding agencies. =
