After six-and-a-half years as the Manager of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery
Society, and having met so many wonderful people in the
museum/gallery/heritage sector, it is with mixed emotions that I announce
my departure from the Cannery in early-January, 2008.
Perhaps 'departure' is the wrong word -- while I will be leaving the ranks
of paid staff, I will continue to be involved as a volunteer. I will,
however, miss being among the corps of dedicated, passionate and highly
professional "heritage warriors" of B.C. Not to worry, however; I won't
be joining a heartless corporation bent on world domination and resource
exploitation. Quite the contrary -- in mid-January, I'll be joining the
Sustainable Building Centre as their new Director of Programs and
Operations. Located on Granville Island, the SBC (or 'Light House', as
they're known) promotes the use of green building technologies, products,
practices and designs.
After 14 January, my email address will be
mark@sustainablebuildingcentre.com
Come by for a visit! We're at 1575 Johnston Street, immediately east of
the Arts Club Theatre.
