PARTNERS IN ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (POD) –
UPDATE

The Centre for Sustainability delivers technical assistance grant
programs for not-for-profit organizations in BC’s health and social
services, arts and heritage, and environment fields. POD grants assist
organizations that would like to work with an experienced consultant
to enhance their organizational effectiveness.

Adjudication of both the ArtsPOD and Social ServicesPOD Fall 2007
grant cycles has been completed. Results are available on our
website.

Information about future grant cycles for EnviroPOD, ArtsPOD and
Social ServicesPOD will be announced shortly through our website and
e-news.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR ABORIGINAL NOT-
FOR-PROFITS (TAP) -

UPDATE

The Technical Assistance Program for Aboriginal Not-for-Profits (TAP)
has been created to support the capacity building efforts of B.C.’s
Aboriginal not-for-profit organizations.

In early 2007, the Centre for Sustainability’s Organizational
Assessment Toolkit was reviewed to determine its usefulness and
relevance to the needs of Aboriginal not-for-profit organizations. The
outcomes reported not only reinforced the value of the TAP program to
Aboriginal organizations, but also confirmed there were difficulties
using the existing Organizational Assessment Toolkit. A number of
other assessment tools were then evaluated and one tool format was
judged by think tank participants to be superior to all others. Based
on this research, development and testing of a new Organizational
Assessment Tool will be completed in April 2008.

FREE ORGANIZATIONAL ASSESSMENT FOR ABORIGINAL NOT-
FOR-PROFITS
As part of the research on a new Organizational Assessment Toolkit,
we
are looking for two Aboriginal organizations to participate in
development and testing. Organizations must be based in the Lower
Mainland and be prepared to work with our consultant, John McBride,
in
January and February. Please contact John directly if you are
interested in this opportunity.

TRAINING NEWS

The Charities File Project

e-learning tools in English and French. In addition to the on-line
resources there are six more training workshops scheduled in BC in
