Executive Director of the Wood Co-op

*

Part-time Position, salaried: To manage (under direction from the board) 
the Wood Co-op organization. Job will require approximately 10 hours per 
week. Salary $1000/month.

/Major Duties include:/

    * Working in co-operation with the Wood Co-op board of directors
    * Maintaining the contact point for the Wood Co-op organization
    * Managing of membership (who? where? – also, info outputs /to/)
    * Managing finances of the Wood Co-op utilizing bookkeeper’s and
      accountant’s reports
    * Carrying out tasks assigned by board within a specified time frame
    * Negotiating proposals (e.g., lease arrangements)
    * Writing and collecting policy approved by board
    * Writing annual reports to the board (including statistical analyses)
    * Arranging board conference calls, annual general meetings, annual
      board meetings
    * Working with the Wood Co-op retail-arm’s bookkeeper and with the
      Co-op’s accountant
    * Hiring and managing the work of all subcontractors (lawyers,
      consultants, project leaders)
    * Identifying opportunities and describing these for the purview of
      directors

/Routine Duties to be accomplished by the Executive Director:/

          o Carrying out all needed communication (letters, calls, e-mail).
          o Filing information (incl. maintaining needed databases)
          o Promptly paying bills
          o Reporting/messaging (via e-mail) to keep board informed
          o In consultation with board members, developing agendas for
            conference calls and meetings
          o Developing and distributing (in timely fashion) minutes of
            meetings
          o Keeping a "to-do list" for self and for board committees
          o Monitoring board project progress and reminding board
            directors of their commitments
          o Creating strategies/procedures for ensuring accountability
            for committees
          o Developing and overseeing all org publications (print, Web,
            etc.)
          o Distributing to the directors all publications relevant to them

Qualifications:

*

Business-management background required. Familiarity with business 
graphing and reporting required. Experience and/or knowledge of the wood 
and value-added wood products sectors in B.C. would be an asset, as 
would an interest in "green issues."
