Work location is in Ottawa, Ontario
DUTIES: Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the
Director is responsible for envisioning, supervising and ensuring the
highest quality and appropriateness for local, regional and national
services, programs and events through the following units: Education,
Rentals and Events, Market Research/Planning and Guest and Reservation
Services.
The incumbent will represent the museum program and the visitor
perspective within the Victoria Memorial Museum Building renovation
project. The Director will provide leadership in the development and
maintenance of a community liaison program.
The incumbent is also accountable for ensuring a holistic and seamless
experience for the visitors. Furthermore, he/she is accountable for all
aspects of the planning, management and implementation of the Museum’s
client/community services function within the framework of the Museum’s
mission, corporate objectives and actions.
As a member Management Committee, the incumbent makes a significant
contribution to the positive CMN culture and to the performance
measurement and accountability frameworks, including the framework for
revenue generation.
OPEN TO: Individuals who meet the following qualifications.
EDUCATION: Graduate degree in management, education,
hospitality/tourism, and marketing or in another related area, or an
acceptable combination of education and experience. Professional
certification in education or project management would be an asset.
LANGUAGE EQUIREMENTS:
English and French are essential
Bilingual Imperative: CBC/CBC
EXPERIENCE:
* Significant experience in positions of progressively increasing
levels of responsibility in guest services/ services for a
visiting public, preferably in a heritage, science or educational
setting.
* Experience in managing and supervising a dynamic team of
individuals responsible for developing programmes, services, and
events for diverse audiences, local and national.
* Experience in developing and sustaining meaningful partnerships
and positive relationships with the local community and with like
agencies regionally and nationally.
* Experience in working as an effective member of a senior
management team.
