Gordie Tentrees Applies Bottleneck to Wire (With Excellent Results!)

Gordie Tentrees is set to show off some Yukon roots music at 7 pm, Tuesday,=
=20
March 6, in the main gallery at the Art Gallery of the South Okanagan, 199=
=20
Marina Way, Penticton.

Going back and forth across this country from the Yukon, Gordie has=20
performed some 200 shows a year, either solo or with his band. He writes=20
his own songs, plays a guitar, uses a slide, blows a harmonica, and is=20
sometimes touched with a voice like a bird on a warm spring morning belting=
=20
out the last day on earth. He also does other things before he gets to=20
share his music, such as book his tours, promote them, manage his band,=20
radio track his records, act as an agent, road manager, publicist, apply=20
for things, pay for everything, parent the kids and make time for the girl.=
=20
There is no need to mention his day job.

Feeling lucky to get this far with only his fortune amounting in friends,=20
he continues to build a steady career upon Canadian tours, festival=20
appearances, and showcases while garnering airplay in Canada, the US,=20
Europe and Australia. His debut album, 29 Loads of Freight, released in=20
2004, was a colourful ode to all his previous musical interests (country,=20
folk and blues), leading to rave reviews, more shows, a documentary=20
(www.topoftheworldfilms.com) and the opportunity to munch from many a snack=
=20
tray with his heroes. He spent last winter writing his new album, while=20
mentoring with Canadian roots/blues man, Rick Fines.

Gordie has released his new album, Bottleneck to Wire, with special guests=
=20
Roger Marin (Fred Eaglesmith Band) =96 pedal steel, Jaxon Haldane=
 (D-Rangers)=20
=96 banjo, Amelia Rose (Fishhead Stew) =96 fiddle, Aylie Sparkes =96 guitar=
 and=20
Kim Barlow =96 cello.

Gordie is also staking claim to be the first Canadian roots musician to be=
=20
backed by an airline company. =93He is a great ambassador for the north; we=
=20
believe in his music and his dedication to it,=94 says Deb Ryan, Air North=
=20
representative.

Tickets for the Gordie Tentrees concert are available at the Art Gallery of=
=20
the South Okanagan; $10 for Gallery members or $15 for non-members. To=20
arrange a media interview or for more information, please contact Paul=20
Crawford at the Art Gallery of the South Okanagan, (250) 493-2928.
