Seeking an organized individual with museum or equivalent experience for a
part time position. Ability to multi-task, knowledge of collections data
bases, word and excel is necessary. Interest in history and effective

CURATOR/ADMINISTRATOR
The Comox Archives and Museum Society has been the keeper and interpreter of
the Town's history since 2000 and since inception has held the Town's
collections in trust for the citizens of Comox. The Comox Archives and
Museum collects, preserves, researches and exhibits artifacts and documents
that illuminate the human and natural history of the region.
Comox Archives and Museum Society holds archival records and collections
relating to the Town of Comox and the regional district. CAMS applies for
funding from various sources to support research, archival development and
exhibition development. The Society presents two to three exhibitions each
year drawing from community collections and collaborating with other
community organizations.
Position:
The CURATOR/ADMINISTRATOR reports to the board of directors of CAMS and
works in partnership with the archivist. This is a part-time position of 500
hours per year. If additional funding is secured the hours may be extended
accordingly.
Experience:
The successful candidate must be highly organized with the ability to
multi-task. Knowledge of collections data bases, word and excel is
necessary. Experience in a museum or equivalent is essential. Interest in
history and the effective communication with the public will be an asset.
Duties and Responsibilities
The curator/administrator will identify funding opportunities, prepare grant
applications, various administrative tasks including telephone, mail manage,
organize advertising for new exhibitions, and general office maintenance.
Accounting and budget analysis will be required. The curator will insure
that the exhibitions are staffed and open to the public for a minimum of 10
hours per week to be determined by the board of directors.
Remuneration:
Salary range: $18.00 to $21.00/hr to a maximum of 500 hours annually
Benefits: 4% vacation pay, some flexibility in hours (to be approved by the
board)
