Participants Needed for a Memory Study on Expo 67 Montreal

Investigating the Long-term Memories of Visitors' Leisure Time Experiences:
The Case of Expo 67

Overview:

The study proposes to explore issues related to visitors' long-term memories
of World Expo 67, hosted in Montreal in 1967. The study aims to develop
understandings of the nature, character and extent of visitors' long-term
memories and other specific types of memory and recall associated with
large-scale exhibitions. The emerging findings of the study will be of
significance to museum-based and large-scale exhibition developers through
elucidating and extrapolating the identified principles behind visitors'
salient long-term memories of exhibitions. The study is being funded by the
University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

Participants: Any person between the age of 47 years and 80 who visited Expo
67 at least once.

The study is seeking voluntary participants who are willing to discuss their
memories and personal experiences of Expo 67. Interviews will be conducted
with a researcher and will be about 40 minute in duration. During this time
volunteer participants will be asked to talk about the things they remember,
be shown images of the Expo, and asked to draw or sketch things you had seen
during your visit. All interviews will be administered in a relaxed
conversational manner and video taped for subsequent data analysis. A good
memory of Expo 67 is NOT a prerequisite for participation in the study.

When: Interviews and discussions will be conducted from January 29 to
February 9th in Scarf, Room 2218, UBC.

Honorarium:
For you contribution to this study through your participation, you will be
given to complementary tickets to a local museum.
