1. Has your institution been, or will be, affected by the school fees =
ruling?=20
Yes, probably. School bus tours. However, our local shool board covers =
the cost of transportation for field trips THAT ARE NOT OVERNIGHT. =
Consquently they do few overnighters which, now, rules out a trip to, =
say, the Vancouver Science Centre.
2. If 'Yes' or 'Possibly', please list the details,=20
The effects or possible effects are obvious and a loss of school =
tours also reduces the list of services we are able to supply to our =
communities and as we all know one of the questions most funding =
organizations ask as a qualifyer regards who or what groups use our =
facilities and who DO we serve.
This court ruling could be a blow to us AND the students who may not =
be exposed to a valuable cultural, artistic and heritage experience. =20
3. If applicable, what percentage (and/or actual $$$-amount), of =
your institution's annual revenue relies on school visits and other =
student programming?=20
Minimal (as to the revenue from gate receipts)
4. Has your institution had discussions with your school district =
about the future of school visits? =20
(answered in # 1 after a discussion with our local high school =
vice-principal)
5. If applicable, what measures will or would your institution take =
to offset any adverse affect of the school fees ruling?
Don't know yet.
6. Any other comments?=20
-did Supreme Court intent to increase the value of education by =
taking the factor of learning by experience, out of it...seems that's =
what's happened.
