EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

DIRECTOR, ART GALLERY – AUXILIARY*

$25.72 - $30.34 per hour (plus 12% In Lieu Of Benefits)

The Richmond Art Gallery (RAG) is a public gallery, operated in 
partnership between the City of Richmond and the Richmond Art Gallery 
Association (RAGA), with a vision to be “one of the most important 
public galleries in Canada, increasingly enlarging its audiences and 
their understanding and enjoyment of contemporary art.”

The City of Richmond wishes to engage a Temporary Part-time Director to 
cover the leave of its Director/Curator. Working closely with the Board 
of Directors of RAGA and staff of the RAG, the Director is responsible to:

    * give direction to the activities and operation of the Richmond Art
      Gallery;
    * supervise staff and volunteers;
    * supervise community outreach activities and programs;
    * assist curatorial staff with exhibitions and coordinate production
      of exhibition materials;
    * prepare and monitor budgets;
    * prepare reports, acknowledgements and recognition of funding and
      funding bodies;
    * organize exhibition submissions for the 2008 schedule;
    * participate on the planning committee for the BC Museum’s Assoc
      2007 conference (Richmond, Oct); and,
    * work with RAGA on fundraising activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To qualify you will have a Masters level degree in a related discipline 
plus considerable experience in a gallery setting. Excellent 
communication skills both oral and written, ability to plan and prepare 
budgets, and experience preparing reports and grant applications are 
required.

HOURS OF WORK:

Up to three days per week (24 hours) for a minimum period of 
approximately 4 months.
