Kettle Valley Railway

Joe Smuin is the author of Mileboards: A Historical Field Guide to the
KVR. Smuin has been steeped in Kettle Valley lore since his childhood.
Both his grandfather and uncle worked on the construction of the KVR
line, and his father was a Kettle Valley Engineman. Smuin himself
worked as a Carman at BC Rail. Smuin has acquired a sizeable
collection of photos and documentation concerning the railway. Join us
on July 16 for Smuin's talk and presentation on the KVR. Mileboards is
available for sale at the Okanagan Heritage Museum gift shop. This
public lecture serves as a warm-up to the Myra Canyon Archaeology 
and
History Project being offered by the Kelowna Museums in partnership
with the University of British Columbia-Okanagan. During the course of
this project the public will have the rare opportunity to tour the
Myra Canyon excavation site and to work hands-on in the excavation

Kettle Valley Brakemen

Brakemen are
skilled musicians based out of the south Okanagan. They bring railway
history to life with true stories and songs about the steam train era
and with music about the Kettle Valley Railway. The Kettle Valley
Brakemen are "heritage performers" whose goal is more than
entertainment- they hope to bring audiences to a greater appreciation
