ROY ITO AWARD CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Japanese Canadian National Museum (JCNM) is pleased to announce The
Roy Ito Award. Given by Mrs. Mitsy Ito in memory of her late husband Roy
Ito, this is a one a one-time award to conduct research and publish
about the Japanese Canadian experience.
To carry on the spirit of Roy Ito, Mrs. Ito has created this opportunity
to work with Roy Ito’s papers, which have been generously donated to the
JCNM by the Ito Family. Thanks to Mrs. Ito’s gift, the Roy Ito
collection is now fully arranged, described, and accessible for
researchers at the museum. A copy of the Roy Ito Collection archival
description is available online at http://www.jcnm.ca/resources.htm .
The $5,000 Roy Ito Award is for a scholarly research project working
with the Roy Ito Collection as a main resource to produce a publishable
result to carry on the spirit of Ito’s work. Additionally, a report and
presentation to a public forum is required on the completion of the project.
The JCNM is now calling for proposals by interested individuals to
undertake a project working with the Roy Ito Collection at the JCNM. The
