I reviewed with interest the best website design of 2006, The Virtual =
Crowsnest Highway.
I grew up in the area and also produced a pictorial history of the Pass =
called As The Crow Flew.
The site has many fine features, but as historians, accuracy is =
paramount, and the section on the Doukhobor settlement in the Lundbreck =
Cowley area has several inaccuracies right from the word go.
This settlement was not Nastasia's party, as stated in the opening, her =
party came much later to Shouldice after the revered leader's =
assassination in 1924.
Further errors follow.
Recently I was treated to a nearby clothing display which dealt with =
Doukhobor clothing and textiles, and once again the actual exhibit =
abounded with errors, right from dates of settlement onwards.
Apparently the presenter had 'researched' the topic at the library [?]
Is it too much to expect people who 'go public' to make a more =
determined effort in getting the facts right?
Just wondering . . .=20
