FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Delta, June 14, 2007 – Coming Events at the Delta Museum and Archives
COMMUNITY PROGRAM -- CELEBRATE CANADA DAY!
Historic Delta Street, in the heart of Ladner Village, is transformed
into a giant street party for Canada’s Birthday!
The Delta Museum and Archives hosts a gigantic Canada Day celebration on
July 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The event kicks off with a
scrumptious pancake breakfast and a toe-tapping performance by Celtic
band Doghouse.
Official Canada Day ceremonies at 11 a.m. will include messages from
local dignitaries and the singing of the national anthem. To conclude
the official ceremonies, Mayor Lois Jackson will cut the giant birthday
cake and everyone will get a piece of strawberry shortcake!
The morning is filled with contests, crafts and activities to celebrate
our Nation’s rich and wonderful history. Tour the Museum’s three floors
of exhibits showcasing Delta’s cultural heritage, hunt for famous
Canadians hidden in the historical displays, visit the Archives to test
your knowledge of Delta’s history, practice your stick-handling skills
at our hockey challenge, and make a mini pioneer-styled hay wagon to
take home.
“Looking back at Delta’s history on our Nation’s birthday celebrates the
journey of our nation and our community”, says Program Coordinator,
Shannon King. “What better day to do that than on Canada’s birthday?”
The Delta Museum and Archives is located at 4858 Delta Street, Delta BC
in the heart of Ladner Village. Call 604-946-9322 for more information.
