The link for the Artists in Canada site,
http://daryl.chin.gc.ca:8000/BASIS/aich/user/www/sf which lists artists
files held by various libraries in Canada should be active. There are a
number of files listed for Harold Thomas Faulkner Smith. The Library at
the Vancouver Art Gallery has a file which contains some newspaper
clippings, a letter from his grandchildren and a letter from Faulkner
Smith to the director of the Gallery. Smith exhibited at the Vancouver
Art Gallery 11 times -- 4 one-man exhibitions and 7 group exhibitions.
The Gallery owns one work by Faulkner Smith -- a print of the Wesley
Church. He also was the principal of the H. Faulkner Smith School of
Applied and Fine Art, located in the Marine Building in Vancouver. I
don't see any recent auction results for this artist. I'd advise the
researcher to check all of the file locations, as files seem to include
different materials. I'd be happy to photocopy the things in our file
if they'd be useful.

The Vancouver Public Library (Fine Arts & Music Division) has hard copy
files of artists called "BC Artists Files".

If you visit the VPL website for the BC Artists Files
http://www.vpl.ca/branches/LibrarySquare/art/cabcrev.html#S
they have "Smith, Harold Thomas Faulkner, 1893-1972" listed as one of
their files.

You just have to go to the librarian at the desk and request to see that
file. It will be full of clippings about the artist. It's been a few
years since I've used the service, but the librarians were quite
helpful. It might provide clues to locations of his artwork.

Also, CHIN used to have an "Artists in Canada Database" but the link is
broken. It was a list identifying the location of files on Canadian
artists http://daryl.chin.gc.ca:8000/BASIS/aich/user/www/sf
You could contact them to see what happened to the database.

Hope this helps.
