Archeaology Collections Assistant
E3 ($ 34,101 - $40,920)
Temporary Full-Time Position – 6 months - Position Number 90263
The Collections Management and Planning Division is currently seeking a
dynamic individual who will, under the supervision of the Head of
Collections, undertake the handling, preparation and integration of new
archaeological collections within the Canadian Museum of Civilization’s
(CMC) present storage facilities, including monitoring movement,
location control, collection access and care; and perform other related
duties as requested.
As the ideal candidate, you hold a three year College Diploma in Museum
Technology, undergraduate studies in archaeology, or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
You possess knowledge of:
* Archaeological collections and object identification techniques;
* General museology principles and practices;
* Registration Practices, Standards and Techniques;
* Preventative Conservation Measures;
* Various computer application software including MS Office Suite
and database software such as KE EMu;
* Workplace safety rules and regulations;
* Collections storage principles and practices;
* CMC mandate for care of collections, exhibitions, and loans.
You have experience in:
* Sorting, cataloguing or managing archaeological collections;
* Planning within a project oriented environment;
* Estimating resources required for completion of projects;
* Handling, packing and transporting artifacts;
* Working under pressure of deadlines.
