International Museum Days  At the Maritime Museum=20

The Maritime Museum  of B.C. is offering Free Admission on May 17 and 18
with a special focus on environmental conservation.=20

The International Museum Days programs will utilize the Vancouver =
Aquarium=92s
AquaKit, with activities centered around 3 themes: Fishing for the =
Future,
Pollution Patrol and Vanishing Wetlands.=20

Museum volunteers and presenters from the Vancouver Aquarium will be on =
hand
from 9:30- 4:30 , helping people explore the issues and concerns facing =
the
world=92s rivers, lakes and oceans.=20

Try your hand at being a Wetland Detective ,play the Salmon Saga Puzzle =
Game
and learn all about the Trouble with Blubber.=20

During the Wetland Detective Quiz you=92ll find out what continent has =
no
wetlands and which country has the greatest supply of fresh water. =
You=92ll
learn why Wetlands are so important and how they act as a filter for our
water.=20

While you=92re on Pollution Patrol you can play the Garbage Game and =
learn how
everyday household trash can be mistaken by marine animals as food. This
game takes a close look at the Sea Otter and the Sea Turtle.=20

The Fishing for the Future activity deals with topics like how the =
world=92s
368 kinds of sharks are in trouble. You=92ll also discover what sharks =
eat,
how long they live, what animals are related to sharks and how many =
sharks
inhabit B.C. waters.=20

Experts in marine life from the Royal British Columbia Museum will be in
attendance with various specimens to help visitors identify some of the
creatures they might find while walking on the beaches of Vancouver =
Island.
