The Revelstoke Railway Museum was approved for three students (Service
Canada SCP). One student will be at our Craigallachie site and the other
two at the museum in Revelstoke. One of the projects the students will be
working on is the digitization of our photographic collection, thanks to a
grant from the University Archives, Irving K. Barber Learning Centre,
University of British Columbia, that allows us to purchase the necessary
software and equipment.
Cheers,
Roberto Rodriguez
Executive Director
Revelstoke Railway Museum

>> The email below follows a telephone conversation earlier today with Bev
>> Kennedy regarding the latest round of summer student employment programs.
>>
>> A number have already posted to BCMA-L saying they are still awaiting
>> notification, (see Don Bailey's earlier post). Some have posted their
>> approved student positions over the past few days.
>>
>> BCMA is closely monitoring this new program and the success of BC

>> of email concerning this revised program prior to its roll-out and we are

>> Please forward your own application and findings to the BCMA-L listserv.

>> Following this post, I will re-forward MP Libby Davies notice of March 9

>> Hello Everyone,
>>
>> We here at the Fraser Heritage Society (Kilby Historic Site) have just
>> been notified that we DID NOT receive ANY students this year from the
>> federal Canada Summer Jobs Initiative student grant - none, not a
>> one!!
>>
>> We have always been eligible and have always received at least two,
>> three or four students. The program officer said we had an exceptionally
>> good application but were still turned down.
>> So what now? We partially close for the summer - we cut hours of
>> operation drastically? We close completely? We cut all our school and
>> educational programs?
>> I will be phoning our MP immediately. What have others heard about
>> their applications - I suggest you phone your local program officer
>> right away as apparently they are receiving their information today
>> and the rest of the week.
>>
>> Please let the BCMA-listers know about your student grant status.
