Upon reading the number of emails from organizations who didn't receive
funding for student positions this summer season I am concerned not only for
the organizations themselves but also for the students.

I remember being a student in this field and trying to find worthwhile
summer/seasonal employment that would give me the experience I needed to
enter into the professional realm of Museums and Cultural Resource
Management once I graduated. Sometimes students come back year after year
to these positions and it's sad to think that the jobs they found
interesting and challanging will no longer be there. One has to wonder what
these students will do. Where will they find the work? The local
McDonalds? and if so, is this really worthwhile summer employment for young
energetic minds looking for a challange.

Besides failing these very important cultural organizations the goverment
seems to be failing the students who may count on these sort of jobs to
further their pratical experience in this very important profession.
