I phoned Minister Solberg office. They initially tried fobbing me off to a
departmental person. I called back and said I wanted to talk to someone in
the ministers office and within a couple of hours I did get a call. He was
sympathetic and said they realized there was a problem.
Solberg.M@parl.gc.ca
You can send an email to the Minister at the above address. I still think a
phone call is a good idea. You can try his Ottawa office number (613)
992-4516.

Thanks Susan.
This confirms (further) what CMA reported last Thursday during our
conference call with other PMA's. I believe this decision goes through
Treasury Board on June 5th, then indeed it would go through the YCW
program administered by CMA.
BCMA recommends that museums not funded under the summer
employment program complete YCW applications and submit them to
CMA asap.
Meanwhile, in addition to charting all the emails we have received over
the past couple of weeks, we are continuing to monitor newscasts and
try to ferret-out updates. At the end of Friday, we were hearing
everything from "re-evaluating denied applications from non-profits" to
"we'll fund everybody", and that the PM was quite displeased with how
the program was handled.
Anybody on BCMA-L with more up to date information, perhaps
through your program officer, (as I understand the House in Ottawa is
not sitting this week), OR any indication of reversed or amended
funding decisions, please keep us all posted on BCMA-L!!!
If a change in the current situation is possible or in progress, timing is
increasingly important so that student candidates are still available.
Thanks,
Jim
