Darryl, the YCW was done differently than the other program. If you applied through the CMA you may still be in luck as they are about to announce some new funding.
Just a note, prior to this latest crisis , I was working on a short paper called Confessions of a Juror. It is based on my experience as a juror on a number of summer student program. No I was not a SEP juror, but I was on the YCW plus have done the provincial one in Saskatchewan for about 5 years.
I hope to post my paper in the next couple of weeks. Two comments I will make at this time is the area's that applications often fall down are similar in both the federal and provincial programs. Also when museums are applying to grants that are not specifically aimed at museums we need to do a much better job of explaining what the tasks the students will do AND the value these positions have. Far too often I find that the non-museum juror have little understanding of the needs of museums and generally see the postions we are offering as boring and having little value.... (but keep it short... try reading 150 applications in two days....)
