Hello,
Kilby Historic Site received the "good" phone call yesterday, after all =
the bad news they have now given us 3 students.
Agassiz Harrison Museum also received a call reversing the denial letter =
and they now have 1 student.
So.... hooray and many kudos for everyone who stood up and would not =
accept the original decisions to deny us student funding. Thank you to =
everyone who wrote letters, made phone calls, agitated and dug in their =
collective heels!
One of the really negative aspects of this whole ugly kafuffle was how =
many museum and heritage workers started to internalize and feel "from =
bad to worse" about the low scores. Many of us related it to tests we =
failed in high school..... I talked to a lot of you who said things like =
"imagine getting 22 out of 70" or "we must be really stupid as we only =
received 24 out of 70" and so on.=20
We must all remember that the scoring scale and the whole new criteria =
system is flawed, NOT US!! We all do great and valuable work and that is =
a good thing.
Well done everyone!
Cheers,
Bev Kennedy (aka Heritage Warrior)
