Job Opportunity
Senior Designer, Heritage Resource Officer 24
$53,616.38 - $61,264.46 per annum
Royal BC Museum
Victoria, British Columbia
The Royal BC Museum Corporation is British Columbia’s provincial museum
and archives. Our mission is to explore British Columbia’s human and
natural history - to inspire curiosity and wonder, and to share our
story with the world.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Designer. Reporting to the
Director of Exhibits & Visitor Experience, you will be responsible for
creating compelling new visitor experiences – feature exhibitions and
permanent galleries. You will work with a creative team that is
responsible for all of the elements of the exhibition – collections,
graphics, multi-media presentations, display furniture, material and
finishes. Your job will be to take exhibitions [both big and small] from
early concept to working drawings. We are looking for someone who
understands museums and is passionate about creating visitor-centered
experiences. Your passion for telling stories through design must be
strong. You must also be current – with a comprehensive knowledge of
current trends in museum exhibition design, as well as a practical and
current knowledge of techniques and products. You will need a practical
knowledge of graphic, architectural, industrial design and be proficient
in computer-aided design software.
If you are a talented designer with demonstrated ability in exhibition
design; have the ability to clearly communicate design ideas both
verbally and visually; have a flair for motivating and inspiring staff;
can effectively lead a project team and are curious about British
Columbia’s human and natural world, we’d love to hear from you.
Qualifications -** Interested applicants will have a post secondary
degree or diploma in Environmental Design, Industrial Design, Interior
Design, Architecture; or an equivalent combination of education and
experience; plus seven years experience in exhibition design with at
least three years working in a museum, leading staff and projects.
