"Exploration, Interpretation, Evolution: Artists' Journeys"
A celebration of the dynamic, symbiotic relationships between artists of
the Fort Langley Artists Group (FLAG) is on view in the Langley
Centennial Museum's National Exhibition Centre Gallery from 27 October
2007 through 6 January 2008.
Prominent community artists are exhibiting pieces that show evidence of
how the work of one artist can stimulate another's creativity. A
variety of media and themes are explored in a way that focuses on the
evolution of artists in community.
A series of discussions and demonstrations will be held in conjunction
with this exhibition. As part of the TALK (Third Age Learning at
Kwantlen) series, FLAG members will be speaking about and showing
examples of their own journey of growth and development.
Artists such as Barbara Boldt, Margo Harrison, Blair Howatt, LeEtta
LaFontaine, Beverly Lawrence, Linda Muttitt, and Dianne Wilson will be
participating in the following sessions.
All these TALK presentations will be held on Friday mornings at the
Museum, 9135 King St., Fort Langley, starting at 10:00 a.m.
* November 9: Merging of Image & Text-Illustrating and Journaling
* November 16: 3-D Sculpture & Pottery.
Full details on these sessions are available in the Fall 2007 Third Age
Learning at Kwantlen brochure. Register for this Artists' Journeys
series through Kwantlen University College at (604) 599-3077. Fees for
the three presentations are $22.50 plus a $20.00 TALK membership that
provides access to all TALK sessions offered throughout the academic
year.
The Langley Centennial Museum is a department of the Township of Langley
that aims to be a vibrant community resource, in part by presenting
local artists to Langley residents.
The Museum, located at 9135 King Street at Mavis in Fort Langley, is
open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Sunday
from 1:00 to 4:45 p.m. Admission is free of charge. Donations accepted.
