The DELTA MUSEUM AND ARCHIVES is looking for a full time, temporary
Administrative Assistant
Description: The Administrative Assistant reports to the Executive
Director and works within the team environment of a community museum and
archives and the context of Delta Museum and Archives Society policies and
procedures. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for office
operations, promoting awareness of Delta Museum and Archives' exhibitions,
programs, services, and special events, assisting with special events, and
providing administrative support to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for office operations
* Responsible for the coordination, preparation, and dissemination of
a variety of information and publications to promote awareness of Delta
Museum and Archives' exhibitions, programs, services, and special events
* Assist with the planning and implementation of programs and special
events, as required
* Responsible for providing administrative support for the Executive
Director
Qualifications: High school graduation with considerable training,
additional course work, and/or experience in office management and the
principles, practices, and techniques of writing and preparing promotional
materials. Experience supervising staff or volunteers is highly desirable.
Sound knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; intermediate to
advanced word processing skills. Superior communication skills, verbal oral,
written and electronic format using Ms Office, outlook and HTML. Working
knowledge of advertising and promotional methods and procedures. Ability to
research and collect information, write material, and revise and edit copy
for a variety of uses and purposes. Excellent interpersonal skills and
ability to work in a team; ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and
to deal effectively with the public. Excellent organizational skills and
ability to meet deadlines; ability to work on many projects at one time.
Strong time management skills with the ability to set priorities and manage
multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to exercise judgment and
decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pay Rate:
$21.22/hour plus 4% in lieu of vacation
Start Date: December 3, 2007 (Term up to one year)
