COMMUNITY PROGRAM
Enthusiasts of the popular Antiques Road Show television program will want
to attend the Delta Museum and Archives’ Antique Identification and
Appraisal clinics on Saturday, October 20th, 2007, from 10-Noon or 1-3 p.m.
Unlike the long line-ups that you see on T.V., tickets for the clinics are
sold in advance, and participants and observers are welcome to relax with a
cup of tea while hearing the other appraisals. It is a fascinating way to
expand your knowledge of antiques and also find out if your treasure is
really worth what you think it is!
This fall, the clinics will be held at Kinsmen House at 5050 47th Street in
Ladner, next door to the Ladner Pioneer Library to make the event accessible
all. If you have been keen but have been put off by climbing the stairs at
the previous location, you can finally join the fun!
The Delta Museum and Archives is pleased to host Antique Appraisal clinics
by antiques expert Al Bowen. Bowen appraises objects for Museums throughout
British Columbia and Alberta. Bowen has been sharing his skills and
knowledge with Deltans at biannual clinics for over a decade. Always
captivating and entertaining, Bowen provides a detailed history, description
and verbal appraisal of heirlooms and antiques. Participants find out the
worth of their treasures, whether it is monetary or historical. Bowen can
appraise objects from just about any era. If you have a larger item that you
would like to have appraised, just bring photographs of the item.
The cost is $12 per person, which includes a verbal identification and
appraisal of two objects. Additional objects are $5 each to a maximum of
four objects. Observers are welcome at $5 per person.
Tickets must be purchased in advance at the Delta Museum and Archives at
4858 Delta Street. Your ticket will be issued when your payment is received.
Spaces are filling up quickly.
