mographic and technological changes were highlighted as important</span></=

ctors in a long-term vision for the arts. The Canada Council was</span></f=

ked to maintain its arms-length relationship with government and to</span>=

outside Canada. In terms of language, 994 responses were submitted

of an arts organization (23% of respondents), arts attendee (13%), and</sp=

ve trends in the broad environment of the arts were identified by</span></=

sponses were generally positive with regards to the activities and</span><=

le of the Council. Almost all respondents indicated that a national</span>=

ts council is important. Similarly, there was significant support</span></=
