Opening on September15, The Black Slip: The Painting of Jane
Billaux features the work of the late artist Jane Billaux. Born and
educated in England, Billaux immigrated to West Vancouver in 1934.
Billaux exhibited widely in both solo and group shows with other artists
including Emily Carr, Lawren Harris, and B.C. Binning. This special
exhibition traces her artistic development and situates her within a
larger historical context.=20

West Vancouver Museum offers special programs on Saturday September 15th
to highlight the North Shore Heritage Weekend!

Binning and Billaux, A Place in Art History - Talks and a Guided Tour
1pm Talk and Guided Bus Tour about B.C. Binning and
local landscape (limited number of tickets are available for $ 10 per
person)
3:15pm Short presentation about Jane Billaux (admission by
donation)
West Vancouver is home to numerous artists drawn to its
spectacular landscape, forested slopes and proximity to mountains and
ocean. B.C. Binning created numerous lyrical drawings inspired by local
landscapes and scenes. Join us for a special presentation on the artist
followed by a guided bus tour to visit the places Binning portrayed in
his art. After the tour, attend a second talk on Jane Billaux, who
painted local people and places over her long career as an artist. This
talk will be followed by an opening reception for The Black Slip: The
Painting of Jane Billaux.
