The Art Gallery of the South Okanagan Blends Music and Visual Art in a =
Special Unique Performance on Sunday September 30th from 4 - 5 pm

Penticton, B.C., September 21 2007 ~ The Art Gallery of the South =
Okanagan, 199 Marina Way, Penticton, BC, is proud to present a free =
concert blending of visual art of the renowned painter Agnes Martin with =
the stunning solo voice of Naramata's Sharon Wiener.=20

This free concert will be held in the main gallery starting at 4 p.m. on =
Sunday September 30th, 2007 and will combine the meditative, soul =
searching solo vocals of Naramata's new age recording artist Sharon =
Wiener with the sparse, intensely moving visual artwork by  the =
internationally renowned Canadian painter Agnes Martin. This unique =
blending of art forms will lead you on a sonic and visual journey, which =
will heighten your own sense of place and understanding.=20

Both artists have taken inspiration from their own explorations of =
Eastern Philosophy and this inward journey of self discovery has =
manifested itself in an outward artistic expression which will both =
touch and move you in a unique and most unexpected way. Both of these =
amazing artists have found peace and serenity along the way and their =
creative output has garnered them legions of fans across the globe. =20

Sharon Wiener creates music that invokes a state of 'presence' in the =
listener - a spacious, wide-awake, relaxed and compassionate state of =
awareness. The songs on here two independently released CD's were =
inspired by and arose from her long-term meditation practice and =
Buddhist teaching on enlightenment by Zen Master Dogen.

In writing about Sharon Wiener's music, Sharon Salzberg, author of, =
'Loving Kindness', and 'A Heart as Wide as the World." describes =
Sharon's music as "A beautiful evocation of our natural heart space of =
clarity, peace and joy." Agnes Martin in describing her work once wrote, =
"When I think of art I think of beauty. Beauty is the mystery of life. =
It is not in the eye it is in the mind. In our minds there is awareness =
of perfection."

This concert is a unique and rare opportunity to experience two amazing =
women's journey of self discovery and artistic expression. While they =
are miles apart in their own life's journey, both have found peace, =
serenity and joy in their search for artistic expression. This concert =
