The Vancouver Art Gallery is seeking a post-secondary student for a
temporary, part time position assisting in the Gallery Archives.
DUTIES: This is a unique opportunity to participate in an emerging
archive. The Gallery is in the process of arranging and describing
archival collections held by the Gallery. Working with the Gallery
Archivist, this position will involve appraisal, arrangement and
description of the fonds of a previous director of the Gallery, entering
descriptions in a database and creating finding aids.
QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of one year in a program of archival
studies. Knowledge of the basic principles of archival description is
necessary. Attention to detail and excellent keyboarding and computer
skills are necessary. Knowledge of the history of Vancouver and Canadian
art history is an asset.
