*Alternator Gallery for Contemporary Art presents*
    *Mia Rushton and Abbie Kootchin*

KELOWNA (BC) – Kelowna based artist Mia Rushton has been invited to
participate as artist-in-residence this March at the Alternator Gallery
for Contemporary Art.

Rushton graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 2003,
where she studied printmaking and fibre art.

Drawing on a variety of art and craft techniques Rushton’s work explores
diverse themes including; imperfect patterns, careful line drawings,
architecture, doppelgangers and hysteria.

Abbie Kootchin is also a Kelowna based artist in her 4th year at UBC
Okanagan. Responses to color, shape, and physical paint establish the
direction of her abstract paintings, which explore landscape and human
relationships.

The Alternator invites the public to visit Rushton in the Alternator
Studio 111 located in the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Rushton will also
be exhibiting this April in the Alternator Window Gallery, a glass
enclosed exhibition space in the public area of the Rotary Centre.
Kootchin will be exhibiting in the Alternator Window Gallery during the
month of March.

The Alternator Gallery offers member artists the opportunity to
participate in a one-month residency in Studio 111 in the Rotary Centre
for the Arts, the facility that houses the Alternator Gallery in
Kelowna's downtown cultural district located at 103-421 Cawston Avenue.

For more information on the Alternator’s activities, visit the gallery
