SUMMER LEADER POSITIONS!
RICHMOND MUSEUM
INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR TWO SENIOR LEADERS
for our INTERPRETIVE PROGRAM: Summer 2008
Interested in education, local history or museum studies, and working
with children and the general public? You may wish to consider a
position as a Senior Leader for Summer Programs at the Richmond Museum.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Background in museum studies or education required
• Work or volunteer experience with children & the general public
• Good leadership and public speaking skills
• Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to take direction and work independently
• Class 5 drivers license and the use of a vehicle (class 4 license an
asset)
• MUST BE A CURRENT FULL-TIME UNIVERSITY OR COLLEGE STUDENT (WINTER
2008) RETURNING TO FULL-TIME STUDIES (FALL 2008)
• Interested in planning and delivering summer programs, including some
skill with basic hands-on activities; arts and crafts
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan, deliver and evaluate summer programs, tours and outreach events
• Recruit and train summer volunteers for programs and outreach events
• Promote summer programs and assist with general public relations
• Provide operational support for the Museum
• Assist with some curatorial work and staffing of the museum
WAGES* Senior Leader: $14.00 per hour 35 hours per week
PERIOD* May to late August (approximately 12-14 weeks)
*Wage and period of employment dependent upon funding approval. Must be
a returning full-time student eligible for employment.
• the successful applicant must successfully pass a criminal records
check in order to work in the museum with children
• a flexible schedule with some weekend and evening work required
