VANCOUVER, British Columbia (January 10, 2008) -- The Craft Association
of British Columbia (CABC) will present a gala evening on Friday,
February 1 at the Vancouver Museum in celebration of Craft Year and the
preview opening of the exhibition "Contemporary Craft in BC: Excellence
within Diversity". Join us and MC Sheryl Mackay from CBC Radio One?s
North by Northwest for an evening of appetizers, wine, live music
(classical jazz), wearable art, unique craft and great conversation.
Also featured is the Goblet Grab, a raffle of over 60 original goblets
each valued at over $25. Works in the silent auction range from jewelry
to ceramics and textiles by respected Canadian craft artists. Auction
items can be previewed online starting January 28 by visiting
www.cabc.net and following the Craft Year 2007 link. All items may be
purchased at the event. A special tea demonstration will be presented by
The Urban Tea Merchant.
Tickets are $50 each. Phone the CABC at 604.687.7270 or 604-687-6511 and
by emailing craft2007@cabc.net. A portion of the purchase price is tax
deductible. All proceeds support the Craft Year project, opportunities
for craftspeople, students and the public and the leadership role of the
CABC in making craft more significant in the lives of British Columbians
